Joe Burrow saw a promising rookie campaign come to a premature end during Week 11 of the 2020 NFL season as he suffered a tear of the ACL and MCL in his left knee against the Washington Football Team.
The Cincinnati Bengals are pinning their hopes on the right arm of the former LSU star, and if his play in his first year in the NFL is any indication, he’ll have a solid professional career.
Choosing to be cautious with their franchise quarterback with the 2021 season approaching, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor vowed to only play Burrow for 3 snaps during their preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Taylor stuck to that plan as Burrow handed the ball off twice and threw it once on his only series of the afternoon. The lone throw was to former LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase, who unfortunately dropped it as a rough preseason continued.
And as Burrow took the field for his first game action since his knee injury in November—just over 9 months ago—the crowd in attendance at Paul Brown Stadium gave him a nice standing ovation.
