Benjamin Watson was impressed with Jalen Milroe and Alabama’s offense on Saturday against LSU.

The quarterback had 219 passing yards and was effective on the ground with 155 yards and 4 touchdowns.

“Milroe Magic. That’s what we saw, Milroe Magic,” Watson said. “4 touchdowns on the ground and it wasn’t just him running the football, though that was a huge part of it, it was the fact that Tommy Rees was able to design runs specifically for Milroe and he was able to scramble when those things broke down. He’s always looking to pass though, and that’s what you want to see from a quarterback, but that’s kind of the maturation of Milroe.”

Watson believes Alabama’s offense has evolved from the beginning of the season, and that starts with the offensive line playing with more physicality.

“What I saw from them was running backs stepping up, attacking blitzers, blocking in the hole, the offensive line moving forward, pushing LSU’s front 7 around,” Watson said. “I saw running backs running hard. There’s been a change I think in the mentality for Alabama coming into this game. They wanted to make a statement about who is the most physical team.”
