Bo Wallace was coming off a career performance entering Saturday’s game at Texas A&M. Wallace– whose struggled with consistency this season– threw a game-winning touchdown pass in the final minutes of Ole Miss’ win over Alabama in Week 6. The senior proved doubters wrong with a solid passing display, but in Week 7, it was his mobility that took viewers by surprise.

Head coach Hugh Freeze made the quarterback his primary rushing option with 50 yards and two touchdowns on 14 attempts. Freeze was well aware of Texas A&M’s inability to stop mobile quarterbacks, a flaw that was highlighted by Magnolia state rival Mississippi State the previous week. Wallace provided the game’s first two scores, a 4-yard run with 9:32 left in the first quarter and a 10-yard run on the ensuing drive with 2:04 remaining.

It was a different strategy for Wallace, who entered the game with 39 yards and zero touchdowns on 36 attempts. However, it was a plan that worked well enough to give Ole Miss a 14-0 lead early and hold momentum throughout the contest. Wallace also threw for 178 yards and a touchdown on 13-of-19 passing.
