The Ole Miss Rebels (7-0) found themselves facing a 3-0 deficit midway through the second quarter against Tennessee (3-4). The Vols defense forced eight consecutive three-and-outs before Bo Wallace completed a 28-yard pass to Vince Sanders on 3rd-and-4.
The duo connected on the following play with a 39-yard reception on first down. The play fooled freshman cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, who had his back to the football as it sailed toward Sanders’ hands. The Rebels gained a 7-3 lead and kept momentum for the remainder of the contest.
Ole Miss scored 34 unanswered points en route to taking a 34-3 victory. The Rebels finished with 383 total yards of offense, while their opponents struggled. Tennessee was held to 191 passing yards and zero net rushing yards.
Sanders finished with 108 yards on four catches, reaching the 100-yard plateau for the second time this season. The play marked the turning point in Ole Miss’ victory and showcased why the Rebels are the No. 3 team in the nation. Head coach Hugh Freeze continues to excel in his third season with the program and has made excellent decisions in all of the Ole Miss’ seven wins.
