Emotions were high for LSU head coach Les Miles entering last Saturday’s game against No. 3 Ole Miss. In wake of the passing of his mother, the veteran coach faced one of the nation’s top defenses in a primetime matchup at Tiger Stadium. With the support of his team, Miles led the Tigers a 10-7 victory, holding the Rebels scoreless through the final three quarters.

LSU found itself trailing 7-3 with 11:06 remaining and possession on its own 5-yard line. The Tigers answered with 12 consecutive run plays for 95 yards in 5:59. The 13th play was the beautiful play action pass from Anthony Jennings to Logan Stokes.

During the drive, LSU faced a 4th-and-1 on the Ole Miss 36-yard line. Miles called a handoff to Kenny Hilliard that kept the drive alive, before Leonard Fournette added a 22-yard run and a 6-yard run to put the Tigers in goal line territory.

LSU’s defense managed to hold the Rebels offense, ending their final drive with an interception by Ronald Martin with 0:02 remaining. The win helped the Tigers jump eight spots in the AP Poll to No. 16 overall.
