The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide entered the 2014 SEC Championship Game as a heavy favorite and didn’t disappoint, winning 42-13 against No. 16 Missouri. The Crimson Tide offense recorded 504 yards of total offense, accounting for six touchdowns.
The biggest score came in the second quarter with Alabama ahead 7-0. The Tide took possession with 11:58 remaining at its own 42-yard line.
Quarterback Blake Sims found DeAndrew White for a 58-yard touchdown pass that put Alabama ahead 14-0. The score also helped Sims, who ended the game with 3,250 yards, set a new school record for single-season passing yards. The senior surpassed AJ McCarron’s previous record of 3,063 yards set in 2013.
Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, who orchestrated the play, was so confident in the outcome that he celebrated early.
Alabama outscored Missouri 21-10 in the second half en route to victory. The Crimson Tide’s convincing win was more than enough to maintain its No. 1 overall College Football Playoff ranking Sunday.
