ESPN and SEC Network pundit Paul Finebaum is known for his outspokenness as the de facto voice of the SEC. On Sunday, he decided to declare once and for all that SEC fans think college basketball is a bit overrated:

Though some SEC schools (read: Kentucky) have top-tier basketball programs, it’s no secret that the heart of the South lies on the football field. Despite all of the annual hoopla about Selection Sunday and the conference championships on the hardwood, Finebaum says that the opening week of college football season carries more weight down south.
On its surface, this seems a bit overblown due to the fact that the opening week of football doesn’t do much to determine champions, and even a crushing loss in the vein of last year’s USC vs. Alabama game can be forgiven. In the era of the College Football Playoff, however, the matchups in week one will only get more electric as time goes on. This year alone features such marquee matchups as Florida State vs. Alabama, Michigan vs. Florida and Georgia Tech vs. Tennessee, to name a few.
Kentucky basketball meets Arkansas basketball for the SEC tournament championship on Sunday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
