Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark says he’s ‘open to’ Oklahoma and Texas joining SEC in 2024

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark is overseeing the expansion of his conference, as the league will add UCF, Houston, BYU and Cincinnati this offseason.
But, on the other end of the spectrum, Oklahoma and Texas are planning to leave the Big 12 for the SEC prior to the 2025 season.
There are rumors that the Sooners and Longhorns could try to leave sooner, and Yormark said on Saturday that he is open to those schools making the move in 2024:
Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark: Texas and Oklahoma still in the league til 2025 right now, but, if they express an interest in leaving in ‘24 and it works for all stakeholders, “I’m open to it.”

Obviously, there will be some hurdles that need to be cleared before Texas and Oklahoma can officially leave, but this is interesting news.
We’ll see if these comments lead to more pressure being applied from outside the Big 12 to get the Longhorns and Sooners to the SEC prior to 2025.
