After an epic Week 1, the Big 3 of Florida college football is partying like it’s 2006. That’s because that was the last time Florida, Florida State, and Miami were all ranked in the top 15 of the AP poll, which occurred during the preseason rankings, per FOX Sports’ Chris Fallica.
Miami jumped five spots to No. 5 after edging visiting then-No. 6 Notre Dame 27-24. Florida climbed from No. 15 to No. 13 thanks to shutting out Long Island 55-0 in The Swamp. The biggest surprise came from Florida State, who went from unranked to No. 14 courtesy of beating then-No. 8 Alabama 31-17 in Tallahassee.

With the College Football Playoff national title game at Hard Rock Stadium this season, could this be the year the Sunshine State climbs back to the top of the sport? The state of Florida hasn’t won a national title since Florida State in 2013. Florida’s last national championship occurred in 2008. Miami’s most recent national title was in 2001.
All 3 teams are in action this Saturday. Next up for Miami is a home matchup vs. Bethune Cookman (7 p.m. ET/ESPN+, ACC Extra). Florida hosts in-state opponent South Florida (4:15 p.m./SEC Network). Florida State takes on visiting East Texas A&M (12 p.m./ACC Network).
