Tennessee’s defensive line may have taken a significant hit this week when Emmit Gooden reportedly went down with a knee injury.

Jesse Simonton of Volquest reported that Gooden suffered the injury on Tuesday, and he is feared to be lost for the season, but test results are still pending.

Gooden was expected to be a key contributor on the line after a 2018 season when he played in all 12 games with one start. He recorded 33 tackles, including the third-highest tackles for loss on the team with seven.

Gooden is a senior from Brownsville, Tennessee and previously played at Independence Community College. Kingston Harris could be one of the players in line to replace Gooden.

Tennessee has waited on the pending transfer waiver for Aubrey Solomon, and if the feared news about Gooden is confirmed, the Vols would need Solomon more than ever.
