We’ve seen some strange things take place in college football, but watching a head coach headbutt one of his players — while the player still had his helmet on — has to be one of the strangest. But that’s what Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker did during the Spartans’ visit to Miami on Saturday.
Sparty has gotten off to a 2-0 start to begin the season and has played well against the Hurricanes, leading 10-7, so Tucker has reason to be excited with the play of his team.

But what he did was kind of dangerous, he could have knocked himself out if he head-butted too hard. Just ask former NFL quarterback Gus Frerotte, who did the same thing to a wall after scoring a touchdown. He did it so hard, he knocked himself out and gave himself a sprained neck.
Now, Frerotte will be forever known as the quarterback who knocked himself out of a game. Tucker probably doesn’t want to be known as the coach who did the same.
