Just when it looked like the Big Ten may not be able to return to the field this fall, there may be some hope left for the league up north.

While there has been some resistance from some, many of the most powerful coaches and administrators from the Big Ten continue to fight for the right to take the field this fall.

Most notably, Ohio State coach Ryan Day came out and issued a strong statement asking the same question many Big Ten fans and players are asking — if football is being played around the country, why are we sitting on the sidelines?

Well, that call to action may have worked according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

“Source: The Big Ten Return to Competition Task force is preparing a presentation to outline a safe way to return to play in the upcoming days. There are many variables and sub-committees involved. Here’s what’s important: ‘If the medical standards aren’t where they need to be – tests, contact tracing and myocarditis – they’ll be no vote,'” Thamel reported on Friday afternoon.

Big Ten fans clinging on for any sign of hope, there’s some good news heading into the weekend.
