Week 1 of the 2025 college football season is set to feature several exciting games that are sure to offer a ton of fun moments, but there will also be one very bittersweet moment, as longtime College GameDay host Lee Corso is set to make his final appearance on the legendary program.
Corso has been a mainstay on GameDay for almost 40 years and has become an icon of the sport over that span, making countless memories in the process.
His impact on the sport spans far and wide, and this has led to many figures within the game paying tribute to the man who has given so much to the world of college football.
Among this group is former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator and current Boston College Eagles head coach Bill O’Brien, who paid tribute to Corso when asked about what his legacy has been.
“He was a really good coach, but where he really made his mark was by making college football so much fun to watch,” O’Brien said. “Just seeing that show (College GameDay) on campus, and he’s one of the main guys on that show. Picking the big game winner at the end, and his knowledge of football and his energy. The way that he delivers his love of college football is just going to be irreplaceable.”
O’Brien summed up everything that Corso has meant to college football perfectly here, and there’s no denying fall Saturday’s will sorely miss his presence.
