The Florida Gators are about to kick off the most pivotal season of the Billy Napier era, and they’ll be doing so with perhaps the most talented roster top to bottom that they’ve had since he took the job.

One area in particular that has been standing out to the now fourth-year Gators’ head coach has been the secondary, which is loaded with a number of talented cover guys and ballhawks.

Napier’s DB room has impressed him so much in camp that he believes they can bring the “DBU” moniker back to The Swamp, and that his guys are “on a mission” this year.

“Our secondary is on a mission. I always tell them, ‘It’s time to bring DBU back.’There’s experience there,” Napier told reporters on Monday afternoon. “That room has impressed me. There’s a lot more maturity there.”

There’s no denying that the Gators have a ton of experience and talent in their secondary, but reclaiming the title of “DBU” isn’t an easy task by any stretch of the imagination.

If Florida wants to once again rejoin the likes of LSU, FSU and Ohio State as a member of the “DBU” debate, then their play this season will have to be something special.
