Billy Napier and Florida will be looking to bounce back from a Week 2 loss to USF. But to do that, they’ll have to beat No. 3 LSU in Death Valley, or at least show massive improvement after falling to the Bulls 18-16 in Gainesville.
One headline that came out of the loss was a spitting incident involving defensive lineman Brendan Bett late in the game. The Baylor transfer was ejected and later apologized for his actions.
Despite that — and his remorse over the situation — Bett will still face internal discipline. During Saturday’s “SEC Nation” from Baton Rouge on the SEC Network, Billy Napier told Marty Smith that Bett will be suspended “a little bit of time” against the Tigers.
Bett, a member of the 2023 recruiting class, played in 10 games as a true freshman at Baylor, finishing with 9 tackles and 1.0 sacks. He redshirted as a sophomore but made an appearance for the Bears in the Texas Bowl.
He entered the transfer portal after the season and landed at Florida, being credited with 3 tackles and a TFL in the Gators’ season opener against FCS Long Island. Before his ejection against the Bulls, he recorded 5 tackles.
