That was quick: Blake Countess picked up off waivers by Philadelphia Eagles
Blake Countess didn’t have to wait very long before getting picked up by a familiar team.
If you missed the news on Thursday, the Los Angeles Rams cut Countess after he refused to take a $2 million pay cut. After appearing in 16 games last season for one of the best teams in the NFL, you can’t blame Countess for saying no. That apparently was a wise decision, as another playoff contender acted quickly to pick up the former Auburn defensive back.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Countess is returning to Philadelphia. The Eagles drafted Countess in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft but they waived him before he ever suited up for the team in a game. That led to the Rams picking him up, where he appeared in 37 games for the team, registering 44 career tackles and two interceptions for the club.
While this likely isn’t the path Countess probably saw for himself this offseason, he will remain on a contender heading into the 2019 season.
