Blue-chip defenders out of Alabama HS share top 11s with 5 SEC teams

Edge rusher Qua Russaw and defensive lineman James Smith are teammates at Carver High in Montgomery, Alabama and highly-rated 2023 prospects, each in the top-40 overall nationally on the 247Sports Composite. The high school teammates are likely to sign with the same university, according to Chad Simmons of On3 (which has both of the defenders ranked as 5-star prospects).
Russaw and Smith each shared a list of 11 top teams on Sunday. If they’re signing with the same team, as Simmons suggests, the SEC contenders for the epic package deal are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Texas A&M. They also have Alabama State, USC, Miami, Ohio State and Texas as top teams. Russaw includes Oklahoma in his top 11, while Smith has Jackson State on his list.
