Bo Nix made college football history on Saturday.
The Oregon Ducks’ quarterback started his 54th career game against the Washington State Cougars. That now stands alone as the all-time NCAA record for career starts by a quarterback. Nix began his career at Auburn before joining the Ducks prior to the 2022 season.

Nix passes by five players who made 53 career starts: Colt McCoy (Texas), Kellen Moore (Boise State), Jake Browning (Washington), Clayton Thorson (Northwestern), and Sam Hartman (Wake Forest/Notre Dame).
Fun fact: Nix’s first collegiate start was against Oregon in 2019. The quarterback on the other sideline? Justin Herbert. Now with the Los Angeles Chargers, Herbert will make his 55th career NFL start on Sunday.
Nix spent three seasons at Auburn where he was beaten, battered, and, at times, blasted by the fanbase for his decision-making. Nix completed 59% of his passes for Auburn, and he threw 39 touchdowns in 34 games.
Away from the pressure of being a legacy quarterback, Nix has reinvented himself at Oregon. He entered Saturday’s contest against Washington State with a 74.4% completion rate and 46 passing touchdowns in 19 games.
The Ducks won 10 games with Nix at the controls in Year 1. They’re hoping for a Pac-12 title in Year 2.
