Auburn is dealing with a difficult stretch in its fight against the coronavirus as the community and football team has seen a spike in positive cases lately. QB Bo Nix, however, took a positive outlook to the situation.
In a conversation with ESPN’s Marty Smith, Nix reacted to Auburn missing 16 players and how this might impact the team when the season starts.
“It gives other people great opportunity,” Nix told Smith. “Obviously when adversity hits, it brings about great opportunity. I think that is great for the younger guys that are here and are trying to get in the rotation. With guys out, it’s their step up and they kind of have to do what they have to do to try to show that they can be on the field. So I I think it’s given guys great opportunity and given guys a great advantage to get better over the past few weeks.”
The uncertainty extends to the season where depth is especially important, and Auburn wouldn’t know if it would have to deal with an outbreak leading up to a game.
Ultimately, he sees it as an advantage for those guys who got the opportunity.
