Boise State OC turns down Vanderbilt, former colleague Derek Mason

Boise State offensive coordinator Mike Sanford withdrew his name from consideration for the same position at Vanderbilt, the Idaho Press-Tribune reported Thursday. Sanford turned down a deal that projected to double his salary, a source told the Press-Tribune.
Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason reached out to Sanford to discuss the open offensive coordinator position at Vanderbilt, sources told FootballScoop.com Wednesday. The coordinator worked with Mason at Stanford from 2011-13. The website predicted that it would likely take a 100 percent or more salary increase for Sanford to leave his alma matter, where he played quarterback from 2001-04.
During his first season, Sanford led the Broncos to a top-10 ranking in points and yards, as well as the No. 22 overall ranking and the 2014 Mountain West Championship.
The Commodores fired former offensive coordinator Karl Dorrell last week after one season. The team ranked No. 122 in total offense with an average of 288.8 yards per game. Vanderbilt also ranked No. 117 in scoring offense, No. 106 in passing offense and No. 112 in rushing offense.
