ESPN college football analyst and former LSU defensive tackle Booger McFarland has submitted his top 5 teams after the Week 9 slate – and he significantly shuffles the deck from the AP and coaches polls.

McFarland asks, “Have u been tested? Who have u beat? Are u getting better?” when ranking 8-0 Indiana at No. 1, 8-0 Texas A&M at No. 2 and 7-0 Ohio State at No. 3 in his top 5.

The Hoosiers spanked UCLA 56-6 in Week 9 and have victories against 2 teams that were ranked in the Top 10 at the time on their ledger. The Aggies overwhelmed No. 20 LSU 49-25 and have 2 victories against then-Top 25 teams to their credit. The Buckeyes were idle in Week 9 and have 2 wins against then-Top 25 teams as well.

McFarland then ranks 7-1 Alabama (which became the first team in college football to win 4 straight games against ranked teams without a bye) at No. 4 and, interestingly, 5-2 Notre Dame – which lost to Miami and Texas A&M to open the season and only has a quality win against No. 20 USC – is 5th on McFarland’s list. Alabama escaped against South Carolina 29-22 in Week 9, while Notre Dame was idle.
