Brad Nessler eager for chance to call SEC games

“I’m totally excited,” Nessler told Gridiron Now. “I couldn’t get excited for a while. I didn’t want to say anything because Verne and I are friends. But the first thing you have to know is you don’t replace Verne Lundquist. I am honored that when he’s ready to go, I get to sit in his chair.”

Nessler will offer a fresh voice to the “SEC on CBS” broadcast, but he’s no stranger to college football. He had been a fixture at ESPN for 24 years, a run that included a stint as the No. 2 play-by-play man on ESPN’s college football crew.

Still, Saturdays in the SEC will be different without Lundquist’s voice serving as a familiar soundtrack. Enjoy him while you can.
