Braden Montgomery did not see his 2024 season end the way he was hoping. However, he did not have to wait long to hear his name called at the 2024 MLB Draft.
On Sunday night, Montgomery came off the board in the top 15 picks of the first round. The Boston Red Sox grabbed Montgomery with the No. 12 overall pick, adding his name to the host of SEC players selected in the first half of the first round.

A 3-year college player, Montgomery spent 2 seasons at Stanford before transferring to Texas A&M. His lone season with the Aggies was electric, leading the SEC with 85 RBI while also hitting 27 home runs with a 1.187 OPS.
Unfortunately for Montgomery and the Aggies, he broke his ankle in the NCAA Tournament and was unable to be on the field during the College World Series at Omaha. His absence was felt with A&M eventually falling to Tennessee in the CWS Finals.
