Brandon Miller over Scoot Henderson? NBA fans, media debate Alabama guard’s draft selection

Brandon Miller is the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The debate is settled.
After months of speculation about which direction the Charlotte Hornets would lean — Miller from Alabama or Scoot Henderson from the G League — Charlotte selected the former Crimson Tide standout. All along, Miller’s fit alongside star Hornets guard LaMelo Ball looked seamless. Positional redundancy came into play with Henderson, a point guard in his own right.
Some felt Henderson was simply the better player. Some felt a Ball-Miller backcourt would be better. Charlotte clearly fell into the latter camp.
But that didn’t put the debate to rest. Miller’s selection was a hot topic on social media Thursday night. Here’s some of what was said, including a bit of the reaction from Hornets fans in Brooklyn for the draft.
All along, the entire Charlotte Hornets organization has been all-in on Brandon Miller — ownership, front office, scouts, coaches. They see him as a perennial future All-Star player.

Brandon Miller over Scoot Henderson is the right choice by the Hornets. A 6-9 shot-creator and versatile defender over a 6-2 guard. Charlotte will be able to build big lineups alongside Miller and LaMelo Ball, and Miller has P&R playmaking skill to have Ball flourish off-ball.

Brandon Miller is why you play the games. Before the college season it was widely seen as the top two picks were locks and he was barely a top 10 pick. Fast forward to now and he crashed the party.
