Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Sanders Commings is now looking for a new baseball home.
After a brief stint in the NFL, Commings wanted to try out his skills on the diamond — where he hadn’t played since high school, and the Braves gave him that opportunity; however, things ended Sunday when Atlanta released him.
Commings thanked the Braves in a classy Twitter post.

Thank you for all the ❤️. I’m just beginning my career. I look forward to signing elsewhere. Everyday counts; Back to work tomorrow.

Commings played in just six games for the Braves’ rookie-level team after receiving $100,000 signing bonus. He was hitting just .154 for Danville.
Prior to playing football at Georgia, Commings was drafted in the 37th round out of high school. Immediately following his UGA career, he had a two-year career with the Kansas City Chiefs before moving on to baseball.
I’m sure Commings is a great athlete — probably the best on his Braves’ team, but good pitching is the great equalizer. And it’s just tough not seeing pitching since high school (2008) and jumping right into pro ball and having success. The Braves wasted little time in making their decision.
