South Carolina is trying to win a weekend series vs. No. 4 Vanderbilt and Braylen Wimmer is providing a big boost for the Gamecocks.

After getting shut out in the series opener Thursday by a score of 10-0, the Gamecocks responded with an 8-2 win on Friday night. Now, the two teams are battling it out back-and-forth through the first 5 innings in Saturday’s season finale.

The Commodores started off the day with 3 runs over the first 4 innings. Then, in the bottom of the 4th, Wimmer got the Gamecocks on the board, blasting a mammoth shot to left-centerfield for his first home run of the season.

That home run was tracked at 427 feet and came off the bat at 105 MPH.

After Vanderbilt re-took the lead at 5-3, Wimmer provided another big blow. This time, he went to the opposite field for his second home run of the day.

His go-ahead shot made it 6-5, South Carolina, heading to the 6th inning.
