Brent Venables reiterates ‘no visit’ policy for current Oklahoma commitments
Brent Venables met with reporters in Norman on Tuesday afternoon to help preview Oklahoma’s Week 13 contest against Alabama.
The subject of recruiting came up during the press conference. Specifically, Venables was asked about his long-standing policy that prospects do not remain committed to Oklahoma if they take visits to other programs during the recruiting process.
Venables confirmed that the policy remains in-effect.
“If you’re visiting other schools in the present moment, you’re not committed,” Venables said. “That’s what I would say.”
Venables did not clarify whether or not a prospect would have their offer pulled for going on a visit while committed.
His comments come as reports are circulating that 5-star offensive tackle commit Michael Fasusi is planning to take a visit to Texas this weekend to watch the Longhorns play Kentucky.
Fasusi is the cornerstone of Oklahoma’s 2025 recruiting class. He’s the No. 12 overall player in the cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings, and has been committed to the Sooners since August of this year.
Oklahoma currently has 21 commits in the class of 2025. The group sits at No. 11 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
OU and Alabama will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night in Norman.
