Whatever Bret Bielema is doing for Bill Belichick in New England, he must be doing a really good job with what he’s tasked to accomplish for the NFL’s best coach.

Bielema’s official role with the Patriots is somewhat unusual — he’s listed as a “consultant” to Belichick. Apparently, Belichick isn’t the only one impressed with the work of the former Arkansas head coach. If you have not heard the news, Patriots linebacker coach Brian Flores is expected to be named the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Flores is considering bringing Bielema with him to Miami to serve as his defensive coordinator for the Dolphins.

Here is what Jackson recently wrote on the subject:

One source briefed on the situation said he believes Bielema – along with others – is receiving consideration for the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator job and could end up on Miami’s coaching staff in some role.

It would appear that Bielema will have a role reserved for him in Miami, whether it’s as defensive coordinator or another position. Of course, if the position isn’t as a coordinator, Bielema could potentially be in line for a promotion in New England, too. It will be interesting to see if the Dolphins and Patriots compete for Bielema’s services in the coming weeks.

Either way, it looks like Bielema’s stint in the NFL has only just begun and after only one season, he could be line for a big promotion.
