Brian Harman, former Georgia golfer, wins British Open in dominant fashion

Brian Harman won the British Open by a staggering 6 strokes on Sunday.
It’s a historic victory for Harman, who became the first American to win the Open by at least 6 strokes since Tiger Woods in 2000.

Harman’s path to victory was also amongst the most dominant in recent memory. He led the field by at least 5 shots after each of the final 3 rounds this weekend.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, he’s the first player accomplish that feat since Henry Cotton in 1934.

Harman is a Georgia native who golfed for the Bulldogs in the early 2000’s. He earned All-America honors in 3 separate seasons with Georgia.

This was Harman’s 3rd PGA Tour victory and first at a Major Championship. He also finished in 2nd place at the 2017 US Open.
Sepp Straka, who finished tied for 2nd place, is also a former Georgia golfer.
