Brian Kelly spoke to reporters on Monday and confirmed that star LB Harold Perkins will miss the remainder of the season with what is believed to be a torn ACL.
Obviously, this is a massive blow. Perkins is LSU’s best defensive player and one of the better players in the conference. He had 16 tackles this season before suffering the injury.
Kelly insisted that, despite losing Perkins, LSU is not going to “fall apart.” Instead, Kelly says he feels bad for Perkins himself, but still knows it’s a team effort on defense.
Kelly on replacing Perkins:
“We’re not going to fall apart or lose our identity. You feel bad for the individual more than anything else. He’s a great player, but it takes all 11 players.” #LSU

As for who will fill the void, Kelly threw out a few names. He listed Whit Weeks, West Weeks and Greg Penn as the 3 main linebackers, with Major Burns at star, backed up by freshman Kylin Jackson.
Kelly on who gets Perkins reps:
“If we want to play 3 LBs: Whit Weeks will play Sam, West Weeks in at Mike, Greg Penn at Will. Xavier Atkins would be activated as the next Will.”
“Another look is Major Burns at Star, backed up by Kylin Jackson.”
