Brian Kelly announced Thursday that LSU will be without a defensive back heading into Week 6.
According to the head coach, cornerback Duce Chestnut is currently not with the team. He did not play against Ole Miss after appearing in the first 4 games of the season.
Kelly did not originally reveal a reason for the absence. “Duce Chestnut is not with the team right now and we’ll have an update on his status in the coming weeks,” said Kelly.
News: The hits keep coming to the #LSU secondary. Syracuse transfer Duce Chestnut is not with the team at the moment.

Chestnut started the season for LSU while recording 4 tackles, a TFL and an interception against FSU. However, he has just 2 tackles since then.
Chestnut began his career at Syracuse and had a strong showing with the Orange across the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He had 83 career tackles, 5 TFLs and 4 interceptions prior to joining the Tigers.
LSU’s defense is already reeling after giving up 55 points in a loss to Ole Miss last week, and the Tigers now hit the road to face a 5-0 Missouri squad this weekend. QB Brady Cook has been electric this season, completing 75.5% of his passes with 11 touchdowns and no interceptions so far.
