Brian Kelly is reportedly making a tweak to his on-field coaching staff at LSU heading into the spring.

According to Pete Thamel with ESPN, Kelly is moving special teams coordinator Brian Polian into an off-field position at LSU. That position is expected to be “a GM-type role” with Polian focusing on the management of the roster, NIL and the transfer portal.

With the move, LSU will be looking for a new special teams coordinator per Thamel.

Polian has been a part of Kelly’s on-field coaching staff as a special teams coordinator for 6 seasons, going back to 2017 at Notre Dame. Prior to that, he spent time at Nevada, Texas A&M and Stanford, among others.

We’ll see how this staff shake-up affects the Tigers in 2023 and where Kelly turns for a new special teams coordinator moving forward.
