Brian Kelly offered an update on a few key players during LSU’s bye week this week.

As LSU prepares for Alabama coming off the bye week, the Tigers could have some important players back.

One of those players will be right tackle Emery Jones, who went down with an ankle injury in Week 7 against Auburn. Kelly said during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday that Jones will be back at practice this week and should be ready to go for Alabama.

He also provided an update on cornerback Zy Alexander, who left Saturday’s game against Army with a lower leg injury. Kelly said that Alexander is still in the evaluation process that “will cause him to miss time.”

“He’ll be evaluated over the next couple of weeks,” Kelly said.

Alexander has 44 tackles and a pair of interceptions for the Tigers this season. While he may not be ready to go against Alabama, having Alexander back for the last few games of the season would be crucial.
