The No. 3-ranked LSU Tigers picked up their second win of the 2025 season this past weekend in a 23-7 victory over in-state opponent Louisiana Tech at home under the lights in Death Valley.

The Bayou Bengals may not have run the score up as much as they would have liked to against the Bulldogs, but they still dominated the game on both sides from start to finish.

LSU made a number of big-time plays on both sides of the ball this past Saturday, and head coach Brian Kelly recently sat down to break down the tape on two of his team’s biggest moments against Louisiana Tech.

The first play that Kelly broke down was freshman defensive back DJ Pickett’s corner blitz early on in the second quarter that put the Bulldogs well behind the sticks:

“It starts with disguise,” Kelly said. “We do a really good job at disguise, and then watch our safety come over the top to protect Pickett coming in on the corner blitz, and then Pickett with his length and his size does a really good job.”

The second play Kelly broke down was a beautiful end-around run play that was perfectly executed by senior wideout Barrion Brown:

“We compressed the formation, and we wanted to bring everybody inside as much as we can,” Kelly said. “We start in a trips bunch which gives us the ability to leverage the defense… They were loading the box on defense, so now it’s time to get outside.”

It’s always a treat to listen to a coach with as much experience as Kelly break down film, and Kelly clearly has a ton of passion when talking about his players.

With the way the Tigers have been playing these first 2 weeks, there’s sure to be plenty more big-time plays for him to break down moving forward.
