Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers are gearing up for a big SEC matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies in Week 9. Both teams enter the contest with just 1 loss and are looking to stay perfect in conference play.

Ahead of this matchup, Kelly offered an update on one of his key wide receivers. Chris Hilton Jr. has yet to play in 2024 after suffering a stress fracture in his ankle in August. The WR was expected to play a big role in 2024 after the departure of Brian Thomas Jr. and Malik Nabers.

The team received good news on Thursday, however, as Hilton was a full participant in practice. On the team’s participation report, Hilton is listed as questionable for Week 9.

“He’s made progress. This has been a slow process for us and him,” Kelly said of Hilton. “More than anything else, you don’t bring a wide receiver back after this long out unless he’s been properly conditioned.”

Hilton was running with the first team this Summer, so the WR should take on a large role when healthy.

“I think we’re in a pretty good position here, now this is just getting him game-ready,” said the coach.

Even without Hilton, LSU currently has the No. 8 passing offense in the nation. Fellow WR Kyren Lacy has stepped up in Hilton’s absence and currently leads the team in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.

The No. 8 Tigers will kick off against the No. 14 Aggies on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
