Brian Kelly offered a handful of injury updates in his press conference Monday ahead of LSU’s meeting with Alabama.

The Tigers are coming off of their bye week and preparing for a tough game against the Tide, where they will be gunning for a signature win.

Kelly said that defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo, who did not play against Auburn, will be out for 6 weeks after having surgery. Wingo has recorded 22 tackles and 2.5 sacks so far for LSU this season.

“Clearly, we’d love to have Wingo in the lineup, but he has an injury and we’re built for injuries,” Kelly said in his press conference Monday. “You can’t be built for 11 players. We have depth, we have good players that will step up and be ready to play and we’ll play at a high level. Again, it’s part of football. In this game, if you lose one guy and you’re not able to answer the bell, then you’re not very good.”

Kelly also said that cornerbacks Zy Alexander, Denver Harris and Duce Chestnut will all be out for the Alabama game, furthering LSU’s defensive depth struggles heading into the game.

There was some good news out of the injury update, however. Offensive lineman Emery Jones Jr., who has been dealing with a sprained ankle, will be back in action for the game against Alabama.
