Brian Kelly speaks on major improvements made by LSU QB Jayden Daniels this offseason
Brian Kelly has been impressed with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels so far this offseason.
With spring football coming to a close this weekend, Kelly told reporters on Thursday that Daniels has bulked up to over 210 pounds this offseason.
Daniels has also been a “veteran presence” this offseason as he enters Year 2 with the Tigers, per Kelly.
“He’s thicker. He’s stronger,” Kelly said. “This is about veteran presence now and not acclimating to a new program.”

Both of those developments are big news for LSU. Daniels rushed for a career-high 885 yards last season, and bulking up should allow him to be even more physical as a runner this season.
His added leadership will also have a big impact on the Tigers as they look to take another step forward in Year 2 under Kelly. Last season, Daniels led LSU to the SEC West division title. He threw for 2,913 yards and 17 touchdowns on the year.
LSU will be looking to make it back to the College Football Playoff for the 1st time since 2019.
LSU’s spring game is on Saturday.
