Brian Kelly was aware of the significance of welcoming the Army Black Knights to Baton Rouge on Saturday night.
In honor of playing against the service academy, the Tigers decked the end zones out in camouflage. The end zones were painted “in honor of the Army Black Knights thanking them for their commitment to our country,” according to LSU.
After the game, Kelly spoke about what it meant to play Army.
“As you can see, they had God Bless America playing and the entire stadium was electric. This was important to the state of Louisiana, it was important to LSU, our governor was here tonight,” Kelly said to Cole Cubelic on SEC Network. “There were many, many elected officials and just to be able to honor our service men and women and certainly West Point and the pride and tradition that we have for our service men and women, it was a great night.”
It was certainly a great night for LSU fans, as the Tigers dominated in every facet of the game. The Tigers walked away with a 62-0 victory over the service academy.
Now, the Tigers will get a week off before heading to Tuscaloosa for a much-anticipated SEC West matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Nov. 4.
