It sounds like Brian Kelly has a good problem on his hands as he tries to settle on a starting quarterback for his first season at LSU.
On Saturday, the Tigers wrapped up their first spring under Kelly with the annual spring game. One thing still up in the air as LSU heads toward the summer is the QB battle.
Four players received snaps at QB on Saturday with returners Myles Brennan and Garrett Nussmeier getting the most snaps. Arizona State transfer Jayden Daniels and 4-star freshman Walker Howard were the others to see action.
Brennan was more efficient but Nussmeier finished with more yardage in the game. All four players threw for a touchdown in the action.
Afterward, Kelly discussed where things will stand coming out of the spring. He admitted that nothing was cleared up at the QB position with Saturday’s performances making things more difficult on the staff.
Brian Kelly on the QBs: “We didn’t clear anything up with the quarterback today. We probably made it even more difficult.”

Kelly also addressed the idea of using a two QB system. He called such a system “not easy” and admitted he would rather land on one QB to use while tailoring the offense to that player.
Brian Kelly on a two-quarterback system: “It’s not easy. It has to be a situation where you have to do it. I would much rather play just one quarterback and try to fit the offense to their traits.”
