LSU head coach Brian Kelly on Wednesday issued an update on the status on cornerback Denver Harris.

The sophomore has been out for all 3 practices this week. Kelly disclosed that Harris is “dealing with personal matters” but expressed optimism about him being back shortly.

“If he takes care of everything, we could have him back this weekend,” Kelly said.

Harris was participating with the 2nd and 3rd team defenses prior to his departure this week. Harris transferred to LSU after spending last season at Texas A&M in which he amassed 14 tackles and 3 pass breakups.

Harris was a 4-star prospect coming out of high school and rose to a 5-star player as a transfer, according to 247Sports. 247Sports deemed Harris as the No. 2 overall transfer in the Class of 2022.

No. 5 LSU will begin the season with a blockbuster matchup vs. No. 8 Florida State on Sept. 3 in Orlando.
