Following the outstanding close to the program’s 2019 recruiting class, Tennessee’s top individual recruiter on Jeremy Pruitt’s coaching staff had some fun at Butch Jones’ expense.

The Volunteers secured signatures of the top two uncommitted prospect in the nation during Wednesday’s National Signing Day as five-star West Virginia offensive lineman Darnell Wright and four-star California linebacker Henry To’oto’o both announced on ESPN that Tennessee would be their college destinations. Interestingly enough, both prospects were recruited to Rocky Top by tight ends coach Brian Niedermeyer.

After Tennessee finished so strong, 247Sports named Niedermeyer as the 2019 Recruiter of the Year in college football. That now means that the Vols have three coaches on staff that have won that award with Niedermeyer joining Tee Martin (2016) and Jeremy Pruitt (2013) on that exclusive list.

Instead of taking a victory lap following the news, Niedermeyer gave credit to several members of Tennessee’s recruiting department for the success the Volunteers had on the recruiting trail in 2019.

However, Niedermeyer then showed some of the personality in a follow-up tweet that’s sure to please Tennessee fans:

Tennessee is being forced to build up the roster due to the mess that Butch Jones created and to do it right, Pruitt’s staff doesn’t plan on using catchy slogans that may be popular with any Alabama interns.
