Broderick Jones is preparing for his jump to the NFL and was a first-round pick when the draft began Thursday night. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected the Georgia lineman with the 14th pick of the draft.

When he suits up for the Steelers, Jones will be honoring Devin Willock with a new number. Willock — Jones’ roommate while with the Bulldogs — was killed in a fatal accident after the season.

Jones announced at his introductory press conference he will wear No. 77 in honor of Willock while with the Steelers:

“My roommate from the University of Georgia he wore 77, Devin Willock, the one who passed away in the crash,” said Jones. “They told me the number was available, and I just wanted to show my respects by taking that number and letting him live through me.”

That is an awesome honor from Jones to his fallen teammate. Now, the former Bulldog will look to carve out a key role in Pittsburgh’s offensive line early in his career.
