Bru McCoy promised his mother a Senior Day TD, then delivered

Bru McCoy, like many of the seniors for Tennessee, was playing in his final career home game at Neyland Stadium on Saturday. The senior receiver entered the game against UTEP with 31 catches for 395 yards on the season, but he hadn’t been able to get in the endzone.
However, he promised his mom he would score a touchdown on Senior Day, and more than delivered on that promise with 2 scores in the Volunteers’ 56-0 win against the Miners.

After his touchdown, he was able to run over and celebrate with his parents. Not only was he and his family estatic, but his teammates were equally as excited for their fellow teammate.
Being able to celebrate with his family and deliver on his promise was something McCoy was glad he could deliver on.

“I’m so glad I got in the end zone,” McCoy said. “I promised my mom I would, and I did, so I had to go find her.”
McCoy started 5 times in 2023 before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. Saturday’s scores against UTEP were his first touchdowns for Tennessee since that injury.
It was a great day for Tennessee overall, too, as Florida knocked off Ole Miss in a game that could help the Volunteers make the College Football Playoff.
