There is no hiding from the fact the Gamecocks have their fair share of critics following the team’s disappointing 1-3 start to the season.

Be that as it may, senior Bryan Edwards doesn’t care what anyone on the outside of the South Carolina program has to say about the play of his team four games into the season.

Edwards currently ranks eighth in the league with 311 receiving yards after hauling in 21 passes, three of which have gone for touchdowns. The senior isn’t just doing his damage in the passing game, either, as he’s been an outstanding blocker and special teams performer for the Gamecocks so far this season. While the outside noise may be getting louder following the team’s latest defeat, the South Carolina leader stepped out and put on a brave face as his team is preparing for a game many are calling the biggest of Will Muschamp’s career in Columbia.

“People are going to say what they say,” Edwards said in a clip shared by Josh Hyber of Spurs and Feathers. “They were writing us off from the beginning of the season, so it doesn’t make any difference. You don’t care what people say about you, you have to go out there and do a job. At the end of the day, I got a job to do, the quarterback has a job to do, defense got a job to do, everybody got a job to do and a responsibility to uphold. I don’t care what anyone has to say.”

The Gamecocks have an opportunity to swing some momentum back in their favor with a win over Kentucky at home this weekend before getting two weeks to prepare for a trip to Athens to take on Georgia. South Carolina currently has a five-game losing streak to Kentucky that dates back to the 2013 season.

While it certainly looks unreasonable to expect the Gamecocks to go on the road and beat the Bulldogs after beating the Wildcats, if Muschamp and company somehow managed to pull that off, that would be the best way possible to silence the doubters of the South Carolina program.
