Bryan Harsin embracing Auburn’s championship expectations: ‘That’s our focus, that’s our goal’

It can’t be easy for a tenured and successful coach to leave his alma mater for another job but that’s exactly what Bryan Harsin did this offseason, leaving Boise State for Auburn.
The former Bronco quarterback has spent much of his adult life in Boise, either as a player, assistant, or as the program’s head coach, but the allure of the Southeastern Conference and the opportunity to win at college football’s highest level was too much to pass on for the coach.
So when Paul Finebaum asked Harsin is he’s willing to accept the championship expectations of the Auburn fan base during a Friday appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show, it was an easy answer for the first-year Tiger coach.
“Absolutely. That’s part of the reason why I’m here,” Harsin answered. “And I know the coaches and the players that chose to come to Auburn, for exactly that. The opportunity to put yourself in the biggest games and to play well and to succeed and to play for championships. And those expectations are what we have internally in this program.
“So that that’s not something that’s put on us from the outside, that’s something that we put on ourselves from the inside. If you’re a competitor and you want a chance to be the best, then you have to do the things necessary in order to put yourself in that position but that should always be the case. And to have the fans and the support and those expectations, that’s really the direction we’re all trying to head.
“So the way I look at it, that’s our focus, that’s our goal. Those are the things that we want to accomplish”
