Bryce Young always seems to make the right play. Even in tough situations, the Alabama QB and reigning Heisman winner rarely seems flustered.

That ability to play calmly no matter the situation is one of his best attributes, and it drew a lofty comparison from ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit during Saturday night’s broadcast of Alabama’s 30-6 win over Mississippi State.

Herbstreit compared Young to Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry. After the game, Young said he was thrilled with that comparison (via AL.com):

“That’s my favorite athlete,” Young said on the field during an ESPN interview. “I appreciate that, Kirk. That’s the best comparison I can get. It’s a honor.

“Again, I can’t do any of that without my teammates, without the coaches putting me in good position. There’s a lot I need to improve on. I have to play better. It’s about looking at the film, seeing what I can improve on.”

Here’s what Herbstreit said about Young and his similarity to Curry on the broadcast:

“I use the comparison to Steph Curry because of how cool he is but also his game,” Herbstreit said. “How he’s able to generate, I think, an awareness reminds me of Steph Curry. He’s able to distribute. He’s able to score, and that confidence with a little walk off there. That’s Bryce Young. The personality. The way he leads his team for Golden State and the way Bryce leads his team for Alabama. They look like the same guy. I know it’s different sports, but it reminds me so much of Steph Curry.”

Young has proven to be worthy of such lofty praise thus far. We’ll see as the season progresses if he can lead Alabama back to the College Football Playoff.
