Ahead of a potential Heisman Trophy win, Bryce Young picked up another best player award on Thursday night. Young won the Maxwell Award, the Maxwell Football Club’s award for College Football Player of the Year.

Young, a sophomore, has thrown for 4,322 yards and 43 touchdowns (tying a Tua Tagovailoa record) to just 4 interceptions. Voting for the award closed Saturday night, Young made a strong case for the trophy before the buzzer by going 26-of-44 passing for 421 yards and 3 touchdowns in Alabama’s win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

Young also won the Davey O’Brien Award for top quarterback during Thursday’s awards show on ESPN.
