Auburn baseball came up with a key win Saturday night against Mississippi State, and the Tigers got clutch plays at the plate and in the field to pull it off.

In fact, the Bulldogs had a chance to tie the game on the final play of the night. With a runner on second, Mississippi State laced a clean single into left field.

In a play at the plate, Auburn’s Bryson Ware gunned down the tying run to end the game:

Auburn was able to have that 3-2 lead thanks to a clutch hit off the bat of Brooks Carlson. With 1 out and a runner on second in the bottom of the 8th inning, Carlson laced a clean double into the right-field corner to give the Tigers the lead.

On the mound, Joseph Gonzalez was a star for Auburn over 8 dominant innings. He surrendered just 2 runs and struck out 6 without issuing a walk.

Though Auburn lost the weekend series to Mississippi State, salvaging the final game of the series is a nice boost ahead of Easter.
