Bulletin board material: Mario Cristobal ribs Kirby Smart with Carson Beck-related joke

Mario Cristobal took Miami pretty far with Carson Beck under center.
The Hurricanes fell to a dominant Indiana squad in the national championship game, an impressive feat considering Beck’s inability to win a Playoff game with the Georgia Bulldogs.
On Monday night, while speaking at the FWAA/Steve Spurrier awards ceremony, Cristobal took some time to fire back at Kirby Smart for a similarly good-natured comment regarding Cristobal and Bulldogs DB Ellis Robinson IV. Smart joked that he was nervous to see Cristobal sitting so close to Robinson given the current state of Miami’s NIL program.
Cristobal wasn’t going to take that sitting down. He started throwing around a few of his own after those in attendance watched a video showcasing Miami freshman Malachi Toney, who is being honored for being named the Offensive Freshman of the Year. After watching the video, Cristobal noted that the crowd was able “to watch what a player like Carson Beck can do with great coaching.”
Cristobal wasn’t done either. He also mentioned that if it wasn’t for all of Smart’s domination during the pre-NIL era, “we wouldn’t have NIL right now.”
This is pure gold from Cristobal.
And while this is hilarious, we can’t help but think Cristobal just provided Smart with some bulletin board material. Georgia won back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022, but the Bulldogs have been pretty quiet across the past few years by their own standards. The last thing the college football world needs is a pissed off Kirby Smart, right?
Good thing it appears Smart can take a joke.
