The Volunteers badly needed to get back on the field and win a game following a rough week around the Tennessee program. The Vols accomplished both of those goals early against homecoming and in-state opponent Tennessee Tech Saturday night, ultimately winning the game by the wide margin of 55-0.
After jumping out to an early 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Vols used mostly reserves in the game. After the game, Jones spoke glowingly of his team’s performance and looked ahead to next weekend’s home game against Kentucky. The game could potentially decide the Eastern division after Florida lost Saturday at Arkansas.
